Flower Fairies
Flower Fairies takes inspiration from WGSN’s AW24/25 Kids' Print forecast, “Vintage Daydream.” The forecast encourages a vintage and dreamlike feel by using old-fashioned storybook inspired sketches. The inspiration for this collection also came from “Artistic Garden,” WGSN’s Kids’ SS24 Print forecast, which suggests using painterly florals in densely populated repeats. Flower Fairies is designed for childrens' and baby apparel. The collection showcases an array of fairies wearing floral dresses amidst a garden full of diverse perennials and critters. Flower Fairies evokes a whimsical story, offering a form of escapism for young kids. Featuring muted and sun-kissed hues, including shades of pink which is a magical and comforting color. The collection is designed to capture a vintage aesthetic.
After decades of having predominantly white role models, the lack of diversity causes how children of different ethnicities see their own potential. The expansion of diverse figures plays a crucial role in shaping the identities, aspirations, and self-esteem of young people. It is important that young girls relating to the print can feel beautiful and magical within themselves.Constrained by the color palette and unable to represent multiple skin tones, this collection promotes inclusivity by using the background color as the fairies' skin tone and using varied hair textures and styles to diversify the fairies. Flower Fairies promotes inclusivity and wonder in children’s apparel.
